RELEASEAward-winning design: ZONE’s PEILI range receives Red Dot Award

Zone has entered another league with new designers and new products. In no time at all, PEILI, the new range of attractive, multifunctional bowls, has won an impressive three awards: the award for the most innovative product at the international Maison & Objet fair in Paris; the Formland News audience award at the Formland design fair in Herning, Denmark; and now the prestigious Red Dot Award.

A favourite both at home and abroad
The Danish company Zone has just received the fantastic news that its PEILI range of bowls has been chosen from 5,214 products to receive a Red Dot Award! A Red Dot Award is the most distinguished and prestigious design award in the industry. At this very moment, the PEILI range is being launched in the shops. This is the first time that Zone has won a Red Dot Award, and the company cannot get over the recognition:

“It is totally unreal for us. We were delighted to receive the wonderful audience awards from both Maison & Objet in Paris and Formland in Herning, but a Red Dot Award is the most distinguished design award in our industry. This is great news, which everyone involved in the design of the PEILI range can be extremely proud of,” says Jesper Franzen, Zone’s Sales and Marketing Director.

Aesthetics Meet Function
Zone’s PEILI range was created with the principle of function and flexibility firmly in mind. PEILI is a range of bowls with lids, which serve as a 3-in-1 solution. They can be used for preparation, storage and serving. It is a reinterpretation of the bowl and the platter with a new aesthetic and modern look, created on the basis of Denmark’s proud design traditions. There is no compromise when it comes to aesthetic expression, whatever practical use the bowls are put to.

Serving and Storage in One
The design and colours of the multifunctional bowl are very inviting. It is a brilliant idea to serve food in the bowls and then just pop on the lid and place the leftovers directly in the fridge. The bowls are glossy on the inside, making them attractive for serving. They look nothing like a mixing bowl, though they can of course be used for that purpose. On top of the bowl sits the elegant platter, which, besides serving as a lid, can be used for serving the likes of tapas, snacks and cakes, or as a tray. The bowls’ attractive shiny inside was the inspiration for the name PEILI, which means “reflection” in Finnish.

The multifunctional design has already been very well received both in Denmark and abroad, and will now attract even more attention thanks to the three, high-profile awards.

VE2, the Aarhus design trio, were responsible for the stylish design. VE2 was established in 2007 by the designers Morten Lauritzen, Hugo Dines Schmidt and Tilde Nygaard. Their mission is to create aesthetic,
long-lasting design – with an obvious function.
